Frontline group, the National Youth Alliance (NYA) has described the candidature of Benue born Honourable Ada Fredrick Okwori for the position of National Women Leader of the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as a step in the right direction as her emergence would be a departure from the past, where older women are voted into the position.
NYA expressed this in a statement signed by SA Media to its National President, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Monday April 8, 2024.
“Ada’s decision to join the race for the PDP Women Leader is a welcome development. Unlike in the past where women above 60 always go for the position, we are backing a youth to clinch it this time.
“I have known Ada both inside the PDP and outside for some years now and I believe she will make an excellent Women Leader,” Ambassador Abbas was quoted in the statement.
NYA therefore, tasked the PDP to use the election of Ada who is a youth, as its women leader to assure younger Nigerians that the party has them on mind.
“This is PDP’s chance of wooing more youth to the party. Inclusiveness should be a priority at this time, ahead of the 2027 polls,” the statement advised.
