As the threat of the planned Nationwide Protest continue to attract different reactions, Bauchi state government has declared that there will be no room for any form of protest anywhere in the state.
Addressing a press conference at the government house yesterday evening, the Secretary to the Government of Bauchi state (SSG), Barrister Ibrahim Kashim said government will not fold its arms and allow the protest to hold in the state.
According to him, the Bauchi state government is not aware nor welcoming the idea of holding any protest in the state.
The government warned those planning to protest in Bauchi to give it a second thought before attempting to organize any demonstration in Bauchi.
Barr. Kashim who declared that the government will not tolerate anything that could lead to breakdown of law and order, also dismissed rumours that Primary Health Care Centres would be closed down across the state to prevent them from being vandalized by protesters.
He described as false, information circulating about that the state government has approved for the closure of Primary Healthcare Centers on the day of the planned protest.
He stated that the government of Bauchi state had no knowledge of or involvement in the decision, adding that the claims are being investigated, with a view to punishing the mastermind of the false information.
The SSG assured that all Primary Healthcare Centers and public institutions in the state will remain open regardless of the rumors of the planned Nationwide protest.
Barr. Kashim who emphasized government’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability, said government’s swift response demonstrates its dedication to upholding law and order for the betterment of the citizens.
