NCWS Adamawa to Host Grand Civic Reception for Princess Azura, Unveil Historic Maiden Magazine in Celebration of Women’s L’ship

With immense pride and a vision for a stronger future, the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Adamawa State Chapter, has announced a landmark Civic Reception and Awards Ceremony to honor one of Nigeria’s most distinguished women leaders and celebrate the transformative power of women in Adamawa and beyond.

Addressing the press at the NCWS State Secretariat in Yola, Chief Mrs. Hogla Penticost Agiso, State President, unveiled plans for the event, scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Yola, starting at 10:00 AM.

The occasion will mark a historic moment, celebrating Princess Edna D. Azura, the 16th National President of NCWS Nigeria, and recognizing outstanding contributions to women’s empowerment and societal progress.

Speaking with passion and purpose, Chief Mrs. Agiso described the event as a powerful statement of Adamawa’s pride in Princess Edna D. Azura, a daughter of the soil whose ascent to the national leadership of NCWS, Nigeria’s foremost women’s organization, represents a triumph for all women.

“Her emergence is a beacon of hope, showing what is possible when dedication meets opportunity,” Agiso declared. “This civic reception is our heartfelt way of saying, ‘We are proud of you,’ to a leader who has elevated the voice of Nigerian women on a national stage.”

The event will also serve as a platform to honor exceptional leaders who have championed women’s advancement and good governance in Adamawa State.

At the forefront is His Excellency Rt. Hon. Dr. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Executive Governor of Adamawa State, who will receive the prestigious He For She Award: Champion of Adamawa Women. This accolade celebrates his gender-inclusive policies, empowerment initiatives, and unwavering support for women’s participation in governance.

Other distinguished recipients include Her Excellency Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, Deputy Governor; Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly; Her Excellency Haj. Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, First Lady; Barr. Awwal D. Tukur, Secretary to the State Government; Justice Hapsatu Abdulrahman, the first female Chief Judge of Adamawa State; Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno, Majority Leader of the State Assembly; and Dr. Stephen Maduwa, among others.

“These leaders have shown extraordinary commitment to uplifting women and driving progress,” Agiso said. “Their contributions, particularly from the women among them, inspire us all as shining examples of excellence.”

In a strategic move to deepen grassroots impact, the event will feature the induction of the wives of Adamawa’s 21 Local Government Chairmen as Patrons of NCWS Adamawa State Chapter.

This initiative aims to strengthen women-led development at the community level, ensuring that rural women’s voices are heard and their needs addressed. “By empowering grassroots leaders, we are laying the foundation for sustainable change across Adamawa,” Agiso emphasized.

Adding to the historic significance of the day, NCWS Adamawa will unveil its maiden magazine, a landmark publication showcasing the organization’s programs, achievements, and advocacy efforts. “This magazine is a bold testament to our work as Nigeria’s leading women’s organization,” Agiso stated.

“It will amplify our successes, advocate for women’s rights, and inspire the next generation of female leaders.” The publication is set to become a powerful tool for documenting the strides of Adamawa women and reinforcing NCWS’s role in shaping Nigeria’s future.

Chief Mrs. Agiso extended a warm invitation to traditional rulers, government officials, civil society organizations, private sector leaders, the media, and all sons and daughters of Adamawa to join the celebration.

“This is a moment to unite, honor our own, and recommit to the advancement of women and society,” she said. “Together, we will celebrate leadership and chart a path for a more inclusive future.” She expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri and other stakeholders for their support, which has been vital to NCWS’s mission.

The Civic Reception and Awards Ceremony promises to be a vibrant celebration of women’s contributions to Adamawa’s progress and a reaffirmation of NCWS’s pivotal role in Nigeria’s development. “Long live Adamawa women! Long live NCWS! Long live Nigeria!” Agiso declared, closing her address with a resounding call for unity and progress.
