The suspect, whose identity is being withheld, was intercepted on Wednesday along the Tsafe–Gusau highway. She is said to be a resident of Birnin Magaji Local Government Area, with the ammunition concealed in her luggage.

Tsafe LGA Chairman, Malam Garba Shehu, commended the NDLEA for the arrest, describing it as a significant step in disrupting the supply of weapons to criminal elements.

“I commend the NDLEA operatives for their vigilance and commitment. This interception has prevented deadly ammunition from reaching those who threaten the peace and safety of our communities,” Shehu stated.

He reaffirmed the local government’s full support for security agencies and issued a stern warning to anyone aiding criminal activities.

“We will continue to provide all necessary support to law enforcement. Anyone found supporting banditry or crime will face the full force of the law,” he added.

The suspect has been transferred to a secure facility for further investigation. Security agencies are now working to trace the source of the ammunition and identify its intended recipients.

The arrest is part of intensified operations in Tsafe and surrounding areas, aimed at blocking supply routes linking Birnin Magaji, Tsafe, and the Dansadau forest—a known bandit stronghold.
