The North East Development Commission (NEDC), in partnership with the Nigeria Association of Nephrology, has marked World Kidney Day in Yola, urging residents to prioritize kidney health.

The event, held at Kasuwan Palluja in Yola North Local Government Area, drew a large crowd of market traders and community members who turned out in large numbers for the awareness campaign.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Batulu Isa, Acting General Manager of the Humanitarian Department at NEDC, alongside Barr. Khalifa M. Lawan, called on residents to adopt healthy lifestyles and avoid harmful substances that can damage the kidneys.
The State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Felix Tangwami, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving citizen wellbeing. He stated that the state would continue partnering with development organizations to tackle kidney-related health challenges.
A key highlight of the event was the provision of free medical screenings, aimed at enabling early detection and prevention of kidney diseases.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the NEDC and health partners to promote preventive healthcare across the North East region.
