NEDC to establish Mega school in Adamawa Community

The Deputy Chief Whip and member representing Guyuk constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Adwawa Donglock has commended Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for recommending Guyuk local government area as one of the beneficiaries of North East Development Commission (NEDC) mega schools in the state.

He also commended the NEDC for approving the recommendation.

The lawmaker made the commendations when he led a high powered delegation comprising traditional rulers and other stakeholders to formally hand over the land provided by the traditional council and local government at GnaKise to the Cohort Contractors and Star Burst Property and Investment, the contractors handling the project.

He said the initiative of the NEDC to construct three mega schools one in each of the Senatorial District of the state, is commendable, adding that the project will complement the landmark achievements of the Fintiri administration in education sector.

Speaking on behalf of Guyuk traditional council while handing over the land to the contractors, the acting district head of Gnakise, Obidah Wulargai described education as the bedrock of social development and assured that the Guyuk traditional council will not relent in its efforts to support the government in its bid to take Adamawa to greater heights.

In his remark, the council chairman Guyuk local government, Solomon Abafras who was represented by his Vice, Peter Dadure Dibalka appreciated Adwawa Donglock for his roles in putting smiles on the faces of Guyuk constituents.

The council chairman said the NEDC MEGA school will go a long way in increasing the quality and standard of education in the area.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in the area Mr. Bizen Wilson and Wunjir Wycliffe gave thumbs up to efforts of the NEDC and the Adamawa State Governor in revamping education in the state.

Also speaking, a resident, Engineer Musa Galabu saluted NEDC and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for their educational development in the state.

Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after the visit to the proposed site for the MEGA school, one of the contractors handling the project, Barrister Muhammad Abdulrahman noted that each of the mega schools, being part of NEDC’s development agenda, will be spread across the three senatorial zones in each of the six states of the North East.

The Deputy Chief had earlier engaged the stakeholders in the Local Government Area to intimate them on the need to support the laudable project of the present administration in its bid to take the education sector to greater heights.
