NEMA distributes relief materials to 15 LGAs flood victims in Taraba

The National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, has commenced the distribution of relief materials to 1,717 households victims of 2020 flood disaster in 15 out of 16 LGAs of Taraba State.

Speaking with newsmen during the flagging off of the exercise in Jalingo, the Assistant Head of Operations NEMA, Yola office, Mr. Kadiri Moses said also benefited were victims of 2019 aftermath election.

He informed that the gesture was followed a request made by the Tataba state Emergency Management Agency SEMA, which President Muhammadu Buhari approved through the Director General of NEMA, Alhaji Muhammad Muhammad to cushion the suffering of the affected people.

According to him, 27 items including food and non-food items were distributed that comprise rice, beans, milk, tin tomatoes, omo, buckets, mats, mattresses and blankets as well as soaps.

Mr. Kadiri Moses added that among the building materials also distributed include cements and zings among others.

However, Kadiri lamented over the vandalization of the warehouse during the #ENDSARS protest which he said was a big challenge for them to put all the items together before handing over to the beneficiaries.

Some of the beneficiaries Adamu Danladi, Oga Sunday and Madam Beatrice Shu’aibu in an interview all appreciated the federal government for the gesture and prayed for a successful tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari.
