Following the killings of two people in Gaya District of Hong Local Government area of Adamawa State by Kidnappers last two days, the newly transferred Commissioner of police (CP), Aliyu Adamu Alhaji appealed to people of Gaya, Garaha communities to cooperate with the police by giving them vital and reliable information that wil help in fighting all forms of crime in their areas.
CP Aliyu while responding to questions during his inaugural press briefing held at the command headquarters in Yola, vowed to stick to the ultimate vision of Nigeria police force to make Nigeria and the state a safer and more secured environment for everyone to live.
When our correspondent asked him of the command readiness to end the rampage kidnappers’ activities in Hong and Adamawa at large, Aliyu said the incessant activities will be addressed with the involvement of all relevant stakeholders.
He revealed that his command will actively engage the local hunters, vigilante, and the traditional rulers because they are very much aware of the terrain than his men.
Aliyu further said he will maintain the police core value by operating within the context of the law and with integrity, to respect diversity courage, show compassion and demonstrate professionalism.
“We will ensure that the rule of law prevails in our actions and activities, to shun , to operate within the context of the law and respect to human right and to make Nigeria, and Adamawa safer more secured.
He also said that he will use visibility, intelligence led policing, synergy with the public, adherence to the ethics of the force and use the police existing crime prevention and detection strategies to achieve the above core mandate of the police in Adamawa state.
A Monarch who is the District head of Dugwaba, (Garaha), Mr. Simon Buba Yakubu lamented how kidnappers are on a rampage in the areas of Garaha, Gaya communities of Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa state his immediate domain.
While appreciating the Federal Government, State and individuals who always shows concern over the dastardly acts of the under world men, he appealed to government at all levels and security agencies to renewed commitment in fighting criminals in their hide outs.
The Baraden Asamawa who granted an interview with our correspondent also appreciated the efforts of hunters and vigilante who are trying their best to fight the criminals but because of lack of motivation and encouragement they are incapacitated to help in stamp down the evil works.
The head of the District Vigilante, Commander Simon Dabna boasts that if the government will give them proper support by providing a vehicle, bullets for their den guns, and other resources as their logistics, they will flush out the kidnappers in the hideout.
According to him, they are very much familiar with the mountainous terrain of their areas more than the kidnappers, Police, and the soldiers stationed Hong put together because they are indigenes.
He said lack of weapons to fight them is making their life at very high risk whenever they have an encounter with them.
He worried that his men are being killed too as they are their target all the times and believed to be their enemies.
“But I’m assuring you that if the government and our communities will support us with constant provision of good weapons and bullets, provide us with enough resources like food, vehicles, and other logics, I tell you we will fish them out.” Dabna said
This is coming despite a well equipped police station was facilitated by the SGF, Boss Mustapha and was built to curb the menace of all crimes, but little according to stakeholders is yielding positive results.
