Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has pardoned three inmates, Zaro Boniface, Luka Grastone and Alhaji Jauro Banyi who were serving prison terms in Numan correctional facility.

In a related development, Governor Umaru Fintiri has approved commutal of the death sentence on one prisoner, Jibrilla Usman from old custodial centre Yola

The Governor was acting on the advice of the Advisory Committee on Prerogative of Mercy, and in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 212(i) (d) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.

Governor Fintiri in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou ordered the release of the three reformed prisoners in commemoration of the 2023 Independence Day celebration.

The statement says the release and commutal to the death sentence are to take immediate effect as all other legal formalities have been concluded with the correctional Institutions.
