The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the official theme for the nation’s 65th Independence Day celebrations, set for October 1, 2025: “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.” The theme emphasizes unity, collaboration, and patriotism across all sectors to drive sustainable peace, prosperity, and progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
In a statement released on Wednesday by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the government urged all agencies and partners to align their programs with the anniversary theme to ensure its message permeates every facet of national life. The theme reflects Nigeria’s resilience since gaining independence in 1960 and underscores the need to consolidate past achievements while pursuing ambitious national goals.

The statement highlighted Nigeria’s journey through challenges and successes over the past 65 years, calling for collective efforts from the public and private sectors, civil society, and citizens to build a stronger nation. “This anniversary is a moment to solidify our gains and aim higher for a powerful nation for all,” Imohiosen noted.
As part of the celebrations, a series of events have been scheduled. A Juma’at prayer will take place on Friday, September 26, at 1:00 PM, followed by an inter-denominational church service on Sunday, September 28, at 10:00 AM. A World Press Conference is also slated for Monday, September 29, at 10:00 AM in Abuja, where further details of the anniversary activities are expected to be shared.
