The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has approached the Federal High Court in Abuja to compel the National Assembly to allow the exit of the South-East out of Nigeria.
This is coming as members of the group maintained that the exit could be done before the conclusion of the ongoing constitutional amendment.

The group of people led by Nastura Ashir Shariff, Balarabe Rufa’I, Abdul-Aziz Sulaiman and Aminu Adam, said their motive was to ensure the avoidance of violence that may be orchestrated by agitators led by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
They also affirmed that they were not in support of a repeat of the 1967 to 1970 civil war in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Attorney General of the Federation, the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the National Assembly were listed as defendants in the suit.
