Nigeria Will Not Surrender to Terrorists, Tinubu Charges Service Chiefs to Crush Insecurity

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a rallying cry to Nigeria’s military, urging them to crush terrorism and banditry with unrelenting force, declaring that the nation will never bow to the forces of terror.

Speaking to troops of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Katsina on Friday, the President framed the ongoing security crisis as a pivotal battle for Nigeria’s soul, vowing to back the armed forces with robust support and resources.

Tinubu’s visit to Katsina State, which began with the inauguration of a 24km dual-carriageway and the Katsina Agricultural Mechanised Centre, took a resolute tone as he addressed the soldiers. “This is a defining moment in our history,” he said. “The threats of terrorism, banditry, and insurgency have persisted for too long. Nigerians are counting on you to end this menace and reclaim every inch of our territory.”

In a fiery call to action, the President challenged the troops: “Are you ready? Are you committed to ending this insecurity once and for all? Let your resolve echo through every valley and forest. Let the enemies of Nigeria know—their time is up.”

He emphasized that the fight transcends mere territory, describing it as a struggle for justice, freedom, and the future of Nigeria’s children.

Tinubu minced no words in addressing those destabilizing the nation. “To those who seek to tear us apart—be they domestic collaborators or foreign agents—hear this: Nigeria will not bow. Not to fear. Not to terror. Not to treachery,” he declared, underscoring the government’s defiance against both internal and external threats.

The President also pledged unwavering support for the military, promising to prioritize their welfare. “Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed,” he assured the troops. “We are committed to ensuring your families are safe, your allowances are paid promptly, your healthcare is guaranteed, and your dignity is upheld.”

He highlighted ongoing efforts to improve housing, family support systems, insurance, and remuneration, reinforcing that the war against insecurity would be won not just with weapons, but with the soldiers’ resolve and government backing.

Tinubu lauded the troops’ bravery, calling them “the shields of Nigeria” and “the brave sons and daughters who stand between our people and the forces of terror.” He added, “Every terrorist you neutralise, every community you secure, is a victory for the future of our children. Your resilience inspires the entire nation.”

The President’s visit comes amid heightened efforts to combat banditry in Katsina and other regions plagued by violence. His charge to the military signals a renewed push to restore peace and security, with Katsina—a hotspot for bandit attacks—serving as a symbolic battleground. As Commander-in-Chief, Tinubu positioned himself as both a leader and a patriot, humbled by the troops’ sacrifices and determined to match their courage with decisive action.
