…..duo discuss bilateral relationship on security

Nigerian Ambassador to Portugal, His Excellency Alex E. Kefas meets with the Portuguese Minister of Defence, His Excellency Joao Gomez Cravinho, and reviewed the existing bilateral Defence cooperation between Nigeria and Portugal.
The career-serving diplomat told this medium that his visit is essential to scrutinize ways of expanding the relationship of the two countries in meeting the current global security challenges.
The meeting was held on Tuesday (17th, 2021) at the office of Gomez in Lisbon, which according to Kefas reviewed the existing bilateral Defence cooperation between Nigeria and Portugal, to seek ways in fostering stronger ties in the area of security.
Ambassador Kefas revealed that Portugal was the first European that landed in Nigeria even before the British and the relationship was maintained in the aspect of security cooperation.
He further revealed that Portugal has been playing host to Nigerian Naval ships, the latest being the stopover of the newly acquired Nigerian Ship NNS LANA, in April this year.
“Our discussion also focused on security issues in the Gulf of Guinea and the sahel region for the two countries to have a good bilateral relations.” Kefas said
