NIMASA donates empowerment items to Adamawa govt for onward delivery to displaced persons

In line with her corporate social responsibilities principle, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has donated goods worth millions of Naira to Adamawa state government for onward delivery to those displaced by the activities of insurgents.

The Director-General of NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh said the gesture is to ease the suffering of people displaced as a result of insecurity bedevilling the state and in many parts of the country in recent times.

Jamoh who was represented by NIMASA Coordinator Abuja Zonal Office, Alhaji Zailani Attah made a delivery of Grinding Machines, Sewing Machines, tricycles, pumping Machines, Vulcanising Machines, Welding Machines, and Hair Barbing items to the Governor of Adamawa State, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who was represented by the State’s Executive Secretary of the state’s Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), Mohammed Suleiman.

While making the delivery of the items to the representative of the Governor, Attah said NIMASA is changing the direction of maritime in Nigeria and is out to assist the people of Adamawa state with her Small and medium corporate enterprise initiative to ease their excruciating suffering and pains caused by Boko Haram insurgents.

He said NIMASA has being going around the country, assisting other states ravaged by floods, insecurities with palliatives to alleviate their poverty status.

Jamoh also said that the support to the people of Adamawa state like other states because of its peculiar needs caused by all forms of insecurity and thousands of people displaced with nothing to fall back to as their means of livelihood in most states in the Northeast

“NIMASA is an agency that regulate Maritime activities, but deem it fit to get relief materials to improve their standard of living and gave to the government because they know exactly who are most needed.

” We will do more, empower more people to help in eradicating poverty, and in turn, the beneficiaries will employ others,” Jamoh said

The representative of the Governor while receiving the items said the items will no doubt touch the lives of Adamawa state people because they are real items for self-independence.

He said the Governor is elated by the gesture done by NIMASA because they are the real items for empowerment, items meant for livelihood,if you give this item to an individual in six months the person will employ so many people.

“What NIMASA did is commendable, this item will go directly to the most vulnerable.” Suleiman said
