NIYN Holds First Meeting, Plans Visit to Digital Imam Sheikh Nuru Khalid

The newly established Nigerian Interfaith Youth Network (NIYN) has announced its first official meeting as part of efforts to strengthen interfaith dialogue, peacebuilding, and national unity among young Nigerians.

According to a notice issued by the network’s leadership, the virtual meeting is scheduled to hold via the organization’s WhatsApp platform at 8:30 p.m. on June 8, 2026.

The meeting is expected to bring together members from diverse religious and social backgrounds to discuss the vision, objectives, and future direction of the organization. Participants will also have the opportunity to share ideas on promoting peaceful coexistence, mutual understanding, and stronger relationships among Nigerians of different faiths.

A major item on the agenda is the proposed goodwill visit to Muhammad Nura Khalid, widely known as the “Digital Imam,” whose teachings on peace, justice, and humanity have earned him admiration across religious and ethnic divides.

Speaking on the significance of the planned visit, NIYN members described Sheikh Khalid as a respected voice of conscience whose messages have inspired countless individuals to embrace tolerance, compassion, and social responsibility.

The organization noted that the cleric’s influence extends beyond religious circles, emphasizing that his teachings consistently highlight the importance of shared humanity over ethnic, religious, or national differences.

Supporters say Sheikh Khalid has become a symbol of interfaith understanding by encouraging dialogue and cooperation among people of different faiths. Through his sermons and digital outreach, he has promoted values of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and justice, particularly among young people seeking guidance in an increasingly divided world.

Members of NIYN also praised the scholar for mentoring youths to uphold integrity, critical thinking, and service to society while offering wisdom and encouragement to older generations.

The network said the planned engagement with Sheikh Khalid aligns with its mission of building bridges across faiths and fostering a culture of peace and unity in Nigeria.

Convener of the organization, Abiodun Ogunleye, encouraged all members to actively participate in the inaugural meeting, stressing that their contributions would be crucial in laying a strong foundation for the movement.

The Nigerian Interfaith Youth Network, which operates under the slogan “Building Bridges Across Faiths,” aims to create platforms for constructive engagement among young people of different religious backgrounds and to champion initiatives that promote national cohesion and mutual understanding.
