British High Commission says Leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, was not arrested in the United Kingdom
According to TheCable, spokesperson of the British High Commission, Dean Hurlock, said that while the mission can confirm Kanu’s arrest, he was not picked up in the UK, where he is based.
Earlier on Tuesday, Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, had told journalists in Abuja that the IPOB leader was arrested on Sunday due to “the collaborative efforts of Nigerian intelligence and security services.”
But the British High Commission’s spokesman, Hurlock, insisted, “Nnamdi Kanu was not arrested in the UK for extradition purposes.”
