NNPP Chieftain Reveals APC Overtures to Kwankwaso for 2027 VP Slot

Ladipo Johnson, the National Publicity Secretary of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), disclosed on Channels Television’s Morning Brief that he has been contacted by members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) encouraging Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate, to accept a potential offer to run as Vice President in the 2027 general elections.

The revelation has sparked discussions about possible political realignments ahead of the next election cycle, amid ongoing speculation about Kwankwaso’s political future.

Speaking on the programme, Johnson stated, “People from APC have called me to encourage Kwankwaso to accept APC VP slot if he’s offered.” The comment, widely shared on X by Channels Television and other users, comes in the wake of recent political developments, including the resignation of APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje on June 27, 2025, citing health reasons. Some analysts suggest Ganduje’s exit may be linked to internal party dynamics and efforts to accommodate Kwankwaso, a former Kano State governor and influential northern politician.
