The State House has issued a press statement to address concerns about who’s in charge while President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima are out of the country. According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President, there’s no leadership vacuum in Nigeria.
President Tinubu left Nigeria on October 3 for a two-week working vacation. He has been actively engaged with national affairs, answering calls and issuing directives. The Vice President traveled to Sweden on Wednesday for an official visit, representing Nigeria’s interests.

The Constitution does not require the President or Vice President’s physical presence to fulfill their duties. Onanuga emphasized that Nigeria’s government is designed to adapt to changing circumstances, ensuring continuity even when leaders are abroad.
This reassurance comes as the President and Vice President attend to international commitments, demonstrating Nigeria’s commitment to global engagement while maintaining domestic stability.
