No rapist will join politics, employ in Adamawa -Fintiri signs stringent law

The Chairperson of the Adamawa State chapter of the Federation of international female lawyers (FIDA), Barr Hapsat Abdullahi has revealed that the Governor of the State, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has signed a stringent law that will fight the menace rapes cases in the state.

Hapsat made the revelation while a host on a local radio station (NAS FM) during a Hausa program (Duniyan Mata) and said the law will not allow any rapist to contest for any political office or be employed as a civil servant to work for the state government.

According to her a reference book with all records of rape offender will be referred to whenever someone is to be employed or to join politics by criminal justice penal code of the state.

Another law revealed by Hapsat is that henceforth anybody found guilty of a rape case will face the death penalty if the victim dies during rape.

She said life imprisonment Will be given to those gang rape victims of rape and a single rape will get a minimum of twenty years jail term if is above eight.

The female also stated during the live radio interview that from now on the minimum punishment is twelve years unlike before where offenders will get Seven years of punishment.

She called on parents and guardians of their children and wards to entrust them in the hands of honest people.

She lamented that rape cases are prevalent and parents and close relatives are being reported on a daily basis.

She worried that many rape cases are swept under the carpet in the name of covering the shame done by the perpetrators in an effort to protect the victim.

She said the only way to fight it to the core is when it’s being reported to the appropriate authority and the offender is prosecuted.

She called on parent to report rape cases not minding who is the offender or the person involved.

She commended Governor Fintiri for frowning at the ugly trend of the social menace and vowed to fight it to the end.
