North East: Nigerian First Lady, Remi empowers women and people living with disability

The Renewed Hope Initiative of First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu launched the North East Women Agricultural Support Program and Social Investment Support for People Living With Disability in Maiduguri. The program empowered 120 women and 200 persons living with disabilities (PLWD) in the North East region.

The Vice Chairman of Renewed Hope Initiative, Her Excellency Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima, represented the First Lady at the event. Wives of the Governors of North East also attended the launch.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, who is the Chairman of the North East Governor’s Forum, committed to supporting the initiative at the Regional Level in his goodwill message.

Dr. Falamata Bagana Umar Zulum, the Borno State Coordinator of the initiative, thanked the First Lady and promised to work assiduously to achieve the initiative’s goals.

Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima said that the program aims to create employment and ensure food security shortly before launching the support program.

Each of the 120 women from the six states of the region received five hundred thousand Naira each, while 200 PLWD received a hundred thousand Naira each.
