Northern Youth Leaders Demand Wike’s Sack, Arrest Over Threats to Democracy

The Northern Youth Leaders Forum (NYLF), a coalition of 50 youth groups from 19 Northern states and the FCT, has called for the immediate sack and arrest of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over his alleged threats to democracy.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 3, the NYLF described Wike’s recent comments as a “call for anarchy” and a “threat to democracy,” which could undermine national cohesion and progress.

The group demanded that the Federal Government direct security agencies to arrest Wike and obtain an undertaking that he will not carry out his threats.

They also called for his suspension from the PDP and removal from the Federal Executive Council.

The group also cautioned Northern collaborators with Wike to desist from such actions, threatening consequences for any accomplice found causing political crisis in the region

The NYLF expressed support for the Senator Bala Mohammed-led PDP Governors Forum and warned that they would not tolerate any form of political crisis in the North, which is already battling insecurity.
