Claims that the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, helped Aminu Ado Bayero, the dethroned Emir of Kano, return to the historic city on Saturday are refuted by the NSA.

NSA spokesman Zakari Mijinyawa called the assertions untrue.

Speaking in Abuja, Mijinyawa was responding to accusations made by state deputy governor Aminu Gwarzo that the NSA was helping the dethroned emir return.

The deputy governor had earlier declared that “nobody has any right to interfere or enforce anyone on Kano people” and that the procedure for an emir’s coronation was spelt out by law.

He had charged Ribadu of “using security” to terrify the state’s population.

Through his spokesman, the NSA did, however, make it clear that the agency did not supply the aircraft that brought Ado Bayero back to the state.

Some 48 hours after Governor Abba Kabir dethroned Ado Bayero and installed Muhammadu Sanusi II in his stead, the governor returned to the state early on Saturday.
