Nuhu Akila from Mayo Lope Ward of Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Primary election for Lau State Assembly Constituency.
Announcing the Result of the Election held Sunday at Lau Local Government Secretariat Lau, the Returning Officer, Nuhu Bullow said Nuhu Akila polled 28 votes out of 31 votes that were cast by the Delegates.
Bullow further added that former State Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Julius Peter got 3 votes while the other 6 Aspirants got 0 vote each.
Describing the Election as free, peaceful and credible, the Returning Officer disclosed that Eight (8) Aspirants contested for the position which Akila later emerged victorious.
In his acceptance speech, Nuhu Akila appreciated the Delegates and other critical Party Stakeholders for finding him worthy.
Pledging not to betray the confidence reposed on him, Akila called on his opponents to work with him so as to win the general elections.
Our Correspondents gathered that Nuhu Akila, the winner of the Lau PDP State Assembly primary election was a Director, Quality Assurance with the State Primary Board, a position he resigned three months back before indicating interest to represent his Constituency at the State House of Assembly in Jalingo.
According to our Reporter, the Senator representing Taraba North and Senate Minority Leader, Shu’aibu Isa Lau, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Prof.) Joseph Albasu Kunini and former Commissioner for Works and Transport, Hon. Irmiya Hammanjulde among other Party Stalwarts witnessed the Primary election.
Before filing this Report, preparations were on top gear to commence PDP’s House of Representatives Election for Ardo- Kola, Lau and Karim Federal Constituency also scheduled for Sunday at the same venue.
