NUJ cautions its members as looting continue in Adamawa by hooligans

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Adamawa State council, has warned its members to exercise caution as hoodlums continue their rampage and looting spree.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, in the wake of escalation of vandalization and looting of warehouses in the state, but has imposed a 24-hour curfew. But the curfew has not effectively contained the activities of the hoodlums who continue to hold the state on the siege.

A statement jointly signed by the chairman and secretary of the union, Comrade Ishaka Donald Dedan and Comrade Fidelis Jockthan respectively, advised members to go about their legitimate duties with restraint as well as follow all the laid down rules guiding the current situation.

” Going by the trend of youths restiveness in the name of #EndSARS that metamorphosed into vandalizing Government Warehouses and other organisations including that of the private sector, the Adamawa State council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ ) is hereby calling all its members to be cautious in carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.

” While calling on all the security personnel to cooperate with journalists, the statement also urged the management of media houses to set up workable and protective ways that will assist its staff in the line of duty.

” The state government should as a matter of urgency, step up stiffer measures that will forestall further lawlessness being perpetrated by some miscreants in looting public and individual properties,” the statement said.
