NUJ Hails Adamawa First Lady as 2025 Humanitarian Icon for Healthcare, Empowerment

The Adamawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, First Lady of Adamawa State, on her recognition as the 2025 First Lady of the Year (Healthcare & Grassroots Empowerment) at the prestigious Nigerian Humanitarian Awards and Magazine.

The award celebrates her transformative contributions to maternal health, child immunization, and inclusive healthcare services across Adamawa.

In a press release signed by Chairman Abdullahi Ibrahim and Secretary Kissinger Bukar, the NUJ highlighted the competitive public voting process that underscored Hajiya Lami’s exceptional work in healthcare, women’s empowerment, and girl child support. The union noted her recent appointment as Vice Chairperson of the Cancer Association within the 36 Governors’ Wives Forum, further affirming her commitment to humanitarian causes.

The NUJ described the award as a testament to the remarkable achievements recorded under the leadership of Hajiya Lami and her husband, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, in various sectors of human development in Adamawa. “This recognition reflects the strides made in uplifting the lives of Adamawa’s citizens,” the statement read.

Reaffirming its support, the NUJ pledged to complement the First Lady’s efforts by advocating for the inclusion of vulnerable groups, including women, children, and the physically challenged, to ensure they receive a sense of belonging. The union expressed pride in standing with Her Excellency in her mission to transform lives at the grassroots.

The Adamawa NUJ extended its heartfelt congratulations to Hajiya Lami and Governor Fintiri, wishing them continued success in their service to the state and nation.
