Nyame restates commitment to re-unite UMC aggrieved members in Taraba

Lingering skirmishes that have torn apart members of the United Methodist Church (UMC) over the years in Taraba State will soon be put to rest.

The State former Governor, Rev. Jolly Tavoro Nyame stated this while answering questions from newsmen in Jalingo the State capital.

Rev. Nyame was commissioning a VIP Complex at the United Methodist Hospital in Jalingo executed by the Bishop of the Episcopal Area, UMC, Johnwesly Yohanna.

“I am aware of the skirmishes within the Church because I am part and parcel of UMC in Taraba”,

“Definitely, I believe God is going to use me and many others to bring back all the warrying groups together and make this Church greater and it will be better”, he assured.

Commenting on the progress and development made so far by the Church leadership, Nyame posited that such did not pose any concern.

“Well, I am not satisfied yet, the Church has to be together, we are United Methodist Church in Nigeria, unless we are united, I will not be satisfied”, he said.

Also speaking in an interview, Bishop Johnwesly Yohanna reiterated the need for all aggrieved and break-away members of the Church to come back so that together, they can serve God.

Bishop Yohanna further described the on-going issues within the UMC as normal challenges any leadership can encounter.

“I see that as an opportunity as well to serve God, even in crisis”, he explained.

On what the Society will expect in the near future, Bishop Johnwesly Yohanna disclosed that plans to start the construction of a befitting Laboratory for the Hospital and Water project have been concluded.

Similarly, Accident and Emergency Clinic of the United Methodist Hospital, constructed by the leadership of Bishop Johnwesly Yohanna was commissioned by the Bishop.

Commenting, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Ogbu Godfrey, who doubles as the Head Coordinator, Rural Health Programme, UMC, Jalingo said the Accident and Emergency Clinic constructed by the Bishop Johnwesly Yohanna led administration is a good thing to happen to the Hospital management.

According to him, they have been having issues on how to accommodate most of their Emergency Patients.

“Some Patients in the Ward that are recovering, when they see some unconscious cases, they break down again”, said Dr. Ogbu.
