THE Chairman National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Adamawa State Chapter, Amb. Ajine K. Delo supported the action taken by the State Government,Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on the lockdown order to abreast the control of the infection and the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
The NYCN Chairman urged the general Public to comply with the order and adhere strictly to the Precautionary Measures being campaign.
In a statement signed by the NYCN Secretary Adamawa State Chapter, Comrade Maisaje Ibrahim Jabir,the Chairman called on the general public to heed the advice and the precautionary measures laid down by the health personnel against the infection of COVID-19 pandemic.
He said:“I urge the youths of Adamawa State to remain calm, harken to all precautionary measures and engage in solitary pray to opt out from the incessant gloomy situation.
“I also, want to call on, the general public to remain peacefully and to stay safe by staying home while praying earnestly to Almighty God for his intervention.”
He called on the government to partner with the NYCN in the state being the Umbrella body of all Voluntary Youth Organizations in the fight against the deadly virus.
He maintained that the fight against spread of COVID-19 is not just for the Government along but a collective responsibility, that need to be conducted in a group sweeping method.
He called on all the State voluntary youth organizations, the local chapters of the Council, all NGOs, the student union bodies and philanthropists to joint hands and embark on serious sensitization of their people and the larger society about the widely spread of the pandemic known as COVID-19 virus.
In the press statement also,Delo enjoined the Government to go about its campaign awareness to the village people that might not have known much about the deadly virus so as to abreast them with the precautionary measures and the impending danger of refusal and disobeying the lock down order.
“To be safe is what we need, even though there is no official report of a single case of infection here in the state but it says wisely that protection is better than cure.”
He also call on, the Federal and the State government, while embattling the spread of virus and imposed the lock down order in some places, they should also consider the economic hardship of the people in that places that their daily consumption might even be affected as a result of that order. At such, Government should resort for a relief materials to be disburse in the affected places where the lockdown order have been imposed in the apprehension of not to record high rate of hungry casualties.
“Hunger is dangerous even more than this so called corona virus itself”. He added.
