Obasanjo Leads Dignitaries to Southern Kaduna Festival

Southern Kaduna came alive on Thursday as thousands of residents and visitors gathered in Kafanchan for a major cultural festival, with former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo expected to lead a high-powered delegation of top government officials and traditional rulers.

The event, which began yesterday at the Federal Technical School camp in Kafanchan, has seen massive turnout, with various Community Development Associations actively participating in competitive events and rehearsals ahead of the grand finale.

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is billed to serve as Father of the Day, while Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected as Special Guest of Honour. Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, is the Chief Host.

Several other state governors and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, are also expected to attend as special guests.

The festival has attracted prominent indigenes of Southern Kaduna, including Minister of Defence, General C.G. Musa (rtd), Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, and other elected officials from the zone.

Over 24 traditional rulers from the area are expected to grace the occasion, alongside notable religious leaders such as Apostle Emmanuel N. Kure, Bishop Kundi, Bishop Matthew Kukah, and Apostle E.E. Bako.

Organisers described the gathering as one of the largest festivals in the history of Southern Kaduna. The grand finale is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 30th May, 2026, at the Kafanchan New Stadium.

The event is being coordinated by the SKFEST Leadership Committee under the chairmanship of Rear Admiral Bobai Fugason (rtd), a respected son of the soil.

All roads lead to Kafanchan as Southern Kaduna prepares to host this landmark celebration.
