The Leader of the rPDP in Adamawa State and three times gubernatorial aspirant in the state, Dr. Umar Ardo, has congratulated Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo State on his victory at the just concluded governorship election. While wishing the governor the best in his second term, Dr. Ardo admonished him to take victory with magnanimity by extending a hand of fellowship to all and sundry in the difficult task of building the state. He also congratulated the PDP for a well-deserved victory.
Dr. Ardo commended INEC for its manifest efforts, professionalism, and neutrality exhibited throughout the election. The action of the electoral body has no doubt instilled confidence among Nigerians in our ability to conduct free, fair, and credible elections if we set our minds in doing so.
“This performance makes a very strong case to accord the Commission greater independence, with its budget made on a first line charge from the Federation Account.
” I also congratulate personally Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the commission’s chairman, for this distinct and flawless feat.” Ardo said
The rPDP strongman in Adamawa finally advised the APC and its candidate to patriotically advance Nigeria’s democracy to the next level by accepting defeat with equanimity and refrain from going to court on the outcome of the election.
