To entrench unity and peaceful coexistence for sustainable development, a Nongovernmental organization, Organizations for innovation and sustainable development (OISC) organized a one-day workshop for All progressives congress (APC) Youth leaders in Adamawa state.
The training which brought together the twenty-one Local Government Youth leaders as participants in a one-day workshop were charged with the sole purpose of sustaining the efforts of the federal government in empowering the Nigerian youths with many laudable programs.
One of the resource persons, Mallam Abubakar G. Mshelia from the Department of International Relations and strategic studies, Adamawa state polytechnic Yola told them “building effective leadership skills” will help them in creating their leadership legacy through mentoring.
The workshop which was held Saturday at the part’s state Secretariat in Yola reminded them that as leaders they exist to inspire others to strive for excellence and to teach, mentor, and provide guidance for others to follow.
Building solid relationships, acting with integrity and fairness, providing counsel and direction, fostering collaboration and motivating, coaching, and developing others were among the many skills Abubakar told participants.
Dr. Abubakar Mohammed Sambo of the department of political science, Federal University Kashere was another resource person who dwells extensively in the key role Nigeria youths play in national development.
He said Nigerian Youths constitute seventy percent of the country’s overall population, having the developmental baseline of the country and their participation in politics is not only necessary but very vital as civic responsibility that is expected for national development.
The APC’s state Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammed who presented certificates of participation to the attendees said the workshop is in collaboration with other NGOs to help the youths of the state have a good conscience towards politics.
The conveyer of the workshop, Alhaji Jamilu Dan’umma said OISC is an NGO position well for human and capital development.
He said the workshop was a deliberate attempt to engineer the APC youths to have a focus on leadership role, involved in political activities that will realize and actualize the narratives that “youth are leaders of tomorrow”
One of the participants, Dr. Bappare Mohammed who is the APC Youth leader of Yola South told our reporter that he is now equipped with a broad mindset to take the responsibility of guiding others for unity to sustain democracy.
“I’m better informed, equipped, and well guided to be a leader of influence through today ‘s workshop.I’m so grateful to the organizers.” He said
