One Dead, 2 Injured as Criminals’ Dynamite Explodes During Pipeline Vandalism in Rivers

A tragic incident unfolded in Rivers State as a group of criminals mishandled dynamite during an attempt to vandalize a pipeline, resulting in a devastating explosion that claimed one life and left two others injured.

According to intelligence sources, the incident occurred when the vandals, after successfully breaching the pipeline, improperly handled the explosive device while making their way to the Touma-Ama Community. The explosion that ensued was catastrophic, resulting in one fatality and injuries to two accomplices.

The deceased, whose identity has yet to be disclosed, was buried in the early hours of April 13. Disturbingly, reports indicate that one of the victim’s severed legs was discovered by the water’s edge, highlighting the violent nature of the mishap.

In response to the incident, the Nigerian Navy apprehended one suspect believed to be involved in the operation. The Naval Department is currently conducting an intensive interrogation to gather further information about the incident and the remaining suspects.

Security forces have heightened their efforts to locate the injured criminals, who are suspected to be receiving medical care at an undisclosed hospital in Port Harcourt. Authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious activity or individuals that may lead to the capture of those responsible.

As the investigation continues, the community is left grappling with the aftermath of this tragic event, raising concerns about the increasing trend of pipeline vandalism and the dangers associated with the use of explosives in such criminal activities.
