OPINION :THE RISE FOR SOCIETAL CORRECTNESS VERSUS SOCIETAL UNCIVILITY,by Ajine

The rise for a United Nigeria is a step away from becoming a reality. With the demonstrations, Strike, boycotts et al in recent weeks across many States, Cities and Streets of Nigeria by a crop of aggrieved Nigeria Youths was somewhat changing the ‘yet to be’ status -quo of the Political system within Nigeria. It remained crystal that the #EndSARs Campaign pulled much attention from the political class, thereby making the citizenry believe that their voices can be heard.

I must admit that the motive behind the #EndSARs Movement envelops alot of National discourse and issues that are germane and which bears an effect either directly or indirectly on the Nigeria Populace.

In as much as we can give an ovation and eulogize the Youths for taking such a giant stride to press home their demands and garner the attention of the International Community; I won’t end at it, but instead, I stand to condemn the nefarious and criminal activities being perpetrated by all patriots ‘in reversed order’ who took the ample advantage to sabotage the process of true democracy that’s Constitutional.

These hoodlums and looters proved out their uncivilized nature by breaking open Government’s reserves/Warehouses, private owned businesses, Corporations and Humanitarian office. They vandalized and looted away goods and palliative meant for our common good. This ill-act started from the Southern part of Nigeria and soon reared its ugly head in other parts of the country; most apparent in the Northern part of Nigeria.

Adamawa State was seen to have her toss of the criminal activities on Sunday, the 25th and Monday 26th of October, 2020. Miscreants took siege of Government owned and some privet storehouses, vandalized and looted Adamawa State Government’s procured palliatives. We are not oblivious of the fact that our region is fragile and susceptible to crisis and thus, the need to store and share during ‘Economic famine’. The act perpetrated by these individuals is condemnable, criminal and selfish. Adamawa State is not known for an uncultured behavior, therefore, the perpetrators should be fished out and meant to face the full wrath of the law.

We commend the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for taking the bull by its horns by enforcing a 24hours curfew within the State in order to further curtail the mishap within the State.

We also commend the Adamawa State Police Command for handling the situation in a professional manner void of rancour and maltreatment of Civilians in Adamawa State.

The Leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Adamawa State Chapter piloted by Amb. Ajine Delo urges all Youths in Adamawa State to remain law abiding and remain at home pending when the curfew will be eased.

Further more, the State chapter of the NYCN is appealing to the State Government to work closely with legitimate registered youth organizations in the State towards inculcating sound moral discipline and enlightenment on negative effects of restiveness, thuggery among others which have become order of the day.

NYCN believes with good coordination and synergy with Government, the best can be achieved from the youths thereby making them an integral part of the community and tools for societal and national development instead of destruction as witness in recent time across the country and Adamawa in particular.

Nigeria shall rise again!
