OPINION: There Is No Better Time to Stand With Kashim Shettima Than Now, Says Hon. Har

As political conversations ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum, an All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholder in Adamawa State, Hon. Hussaini Ahmadu Har, has publicly declared his support for the continued partnership between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

In an opinion piece released on Tuesday, Har, who serves as Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Unity Forum in Adamawa State and is a stakeholder from Makama “A” Ward in Yola South Local Government Area, argued that there is no better time for party faithful and Northerners to rally behind Vice President Shettima.

According to him, Shettima’s extensive experience across academia, banking, public service, and politics makes him one of the most qualified political figures in the country today.

Har noted that the Vice President’s career spans more than three decades, during which he served as a university lecturer, banker, public administrator, two-term governor of Borno State, and senator before becoming Nigeria’s Vice President.

He described Shettima as a leader whose experience and administrative capacity have contributed significantly to governance and policy implementation under the current administration.

The APC chieftain also highlighted what he described as Shettima’s unwavering loyalty to President Tinubu and the ruling party, saying the Vice President has remained firmly committed to advancing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to Har, loyalty and stability within the leadership structure of the APC are essential for sustaining ongoing reforms and strengthening public confidence in government.

Another factor cited in support of Shettima’s continued place on the presidential ticket is his extensive political network and ability to build alliances across Nigeria’s diverse regions and interests.

Har argued that such connections remain crucial in a country as politically and culturally diverse as Nigeria, particularly in efforts to mobilise support and foster national cohesion.

The APC stakeholder therefore called on political leaders and stakeholders, especially from the North-East geopolitical zone, to support the retention of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket ahead of the next electoral cycle.

He maintained that preserving the existing leadership arrangement would help consolidate the achievements recorded by the administration and provide continuity in governance.

Har concluded by urging party leaders and other stakeholders to treat the matter as an important political priority as consultations and strategic discussions ahead of 2027 continue to unfold.

While his position reflects a personal and political opinion, it adds to the growing debate within the APC over the future composition of the party’s leadership ticket as preparations for the next general election gradually take shape.
