Our story have always been and it shall ever be and a Kingdom venerated in the whole world cannot be diminished here at home.
In this contemporary informed society,no one can erase the HISTORY OF A THOUSAND YEARS,with just a stroke of a pen. You might as well attempt to sweep back the ocean with a broom.
Some days ago I was checking as usual happenings back home, and I stumbled over some developments, which rankles every informed mind. That a group of some people under the appellation of MILDU community protested on the doors of Adamawa state House of Assembly. The group are largely Marghi elements, who were chanting Dzagwa – Dzagwa in Hausa saying.
MILDU DISTRICT MUKE SO (then it’ll be echoed)…..A CHANJA SUKUR ZUWA MILDU( another echo)…..this they chanted for many minutes before making their presentation which was rife with error and deliberate misinformation . Ostensibly intended to mislead the HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY & THE PUBLIC about the historicity of SUKUR DISTRICT & the MILDU community.
As a point of fact no one is opposing the creation of Mildu district,even if every single Marghi House is made a district. This shouldn’t be any body’s business let alone ours as SUKUR PEOPLE. there were attempts in the past to look for it. The only fact that always stood as impediment to its actualization is the fact that only the Marghi portion of Mildu is not large enough for a district. Hence it’s attachment to the larger Sukur Land. As a matter of Historical fact, Mildu village is a Sukur settlement for centuries before the Marghi patriac wondered into the nearby forest apparently running away from a more hostile proposition.
The Man was welcomed by the Sukur who owned the land while he hunted and farmed the area which was ORIGINALLY CALLED MIDLING in Sukur….it was called nwuwa midling in Sukur which is translated mountain of midling. Which is a clan in Sukur Nation. The name mildu came about as a result of mis – pronouncements of the original name by the marghi. As I write this article it is a varifiable truth that Even in Mildu as it called today the Sukur population far out number the marghi in that area of MADAGALI LGA.
The gimmicks they employed by calling some names of Hamlets in order to give their falsehood an appearance of a majority is one more ploy to play around with people’s intelligence. After all you don’t have to be in millions to make your point if at all they are genuine and truthful.
That the Director of Communications Adamawa State government house was amplifying their sentiment in one of his response to journalists betrays their Hypocritic position on the subject matter. Which is.
It’s either the governor is aware of this ignominious display of crude unrefined tribalistic, display of naked dance in market square or that some one is hiding under the government shadows to pogo this shameless ethnic project which in the end will not yield any positive outcome to the present policy makers of the state. Especially the executive branch of the government.
In saner climes MR Solomon Kumangar who is by the way not a Marghi Man by Origin ( every BIRDLING man is actually from WULA TRIBE ) wouldn’t take sides in this matter as the government which he speaks for is supposed to be the unbiased arbiter in this acrimony. But when one is covered in the garb of ethnocentrism this is invariably the classical out come.
The world watched in helpless consternation the hostile take over of the DISTRICT HEADSHIP from the Sukur people ( which is by the way a whimsical fantasy) as if to complete an orchestrated AGENDA the same people sent some village peasants to Dance DZAGWA – DZAGWA ( marghi popular dance) in the House of Assembly demanding the change of the Name of the DISTRICT TO MILDU.
If districts are gotten by such simple gestures every village would have been one.
Another false Narrative they put out was that the original name of the District was MILDU and that it was changed by the influence and interest of one man from Sukur.
Normally such presentation would elicit uncontrollable laughter but a closer look at this will send any sentient individual to tears – this is because how low can a whole community of people can sink into the quagmire of hatred galvanized in self delusion and deliberate self blindness.??…with this kind of folks at the Apex of decision making pyramid Africa have no hope to say the honest truth.
Surfice it to say that sukut District was never at any point Named by any Name. It was created in 1992 and not 1983 as was stated by those jingoists. And to tell the level of their deliberate ignorance they’re making such preposterous assertions at the state Assembly where Laws emantes .
As at 1992 the speaker of Adamawa state HOA was a marghi man, when the District was created this of course exposed the primitive falsehood that a Sukur man had used his influence to change the name at that time.
There was never a time when Sukur people had more influential or highly placed kinsmen in government than the Marghis, moreso when they leverage on the collaboration of their brothers in Borno who are even better educated and even richer then they are.
