Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, says those who conspired to catapult the slain Bola Ige’s destroyers to unmerited national prominence have been justly served by the results of the Osun governorship election.
Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Ademola Adeleke, defeated incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to emerge winner of the Osun governorship election held on Saturday.
The Nobel laureate, in a statement on Sunday, said the voice of slain Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige, resounded from beyond the grave by the APC’s defeat.
“Those who conspired to catapult his destroyers to unmerited national prominence, to insult the memories of the living, and jettison basic ethical constraints, have been justly served,” he said.
Soyinka described the outcome of the election as a lesson that speaks to other zones of rightful public expectations, equity, and just entitlements.
The Nobel laureate said, “It is a lesson that speaks to other zones of rightful public expectations, equity, and just entitlements. One despairs but continues to hope that there are still receptive minds in which such lessons will germinate.
“If we may adapt a wise saying from the ancients: the beast of burden, nicknamed Equity, ambles its mined course to destination but, sooner or later, that donkey arrives.”
Nigerians on Twitter have stated that the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, will be the next governor to rule a state for just one-term.
This is as the Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, lost the election to the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, in the election held on Saturday.
Oyetola, who came into power in 2018, polled 375,027 votes against Adeleke, who had 403,371 votes in the just-concluded election.
Adeleke had won the Osun State elections in 2018 against Oyetola but following a rerun of the elections, Oyetola was declared winner.
Despite protesting his loss at a tribunal, Oyetola was still upheld as the winner with a margin of less than 500 votes.
Just like Oyetola, Uzodimma was declared governor of Imo in 2020 by the Supreme court despite coming fourth in the 2019 state election.
According to the tweeps, Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress, will be voted out in the coming election in Imo State.

“Dear Imo state, when election reach, please un-sit HOPE UZODINMA. #OsunDecides2022,” @chibueze_nwaka pleaded.
@marx_onyeka said, “Next is Hope Uzodinma — he will be disgraced out of the Imo state government house!”
“Please, deliverance is highly needed in Imo state. Hope Uzodinma has been a bad leader and never for once, guided in the right path as his name supposedly means. It is time for every bad government to evacuate and let the competent individua(s) do the job of the people.

However, @laviv418 declared support for Uzodimma, saying, “First win after a long time for PDP and they are already gloating all trending that Hope Uzodinma will be next.
“Need I remind them that APC won all the 3 elections in Imo since his tenure. He will win his re-election! #Imo.”
