Outbreak of Lassa Fever in Adamawa: Govt confirms NYSC Corp member index case

Adamawa Government has confirmed the outbreak of Lassa Fever in the state after an NYSC member from Damare camp tested positive.

The Corp member after suspected to exhibit symptoms of Lassa Fever was taken t Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital and was confirmed positive by the national reference laboratory Abuja.

A statement by the permanent secretary of the ministry of health and human services, Pharm Zira Mathias Bubanani warned the general public to take precautions measures by taking hygiene habits.

The statement by Zira said people should avoid unnecessary contacts and proper storage of left over food and food items in order to avoid rats infestation should be maintained.

The Ministry called on the general public not to panic as the government of Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri through the ministry is doing the needful in stemming the spread of the disease.

They however called on the public to report any case of Lassa Fever to a nearby hospital or health workers and a full Media brief will given on Monday, 4th March by the Honorable commissioner, Chief Felix Tangwami.
