Over 32 Cows Killed in Thunderstorm in Ogun State

A devastating incident occurred in Osara, Obantoko area of Abeokuta in Odeda Local Government area of Ogun State, where over 32 cows were reportedly struck dead by lightning during a heavy rainfall on Saturday. The incident happened at around noon and was confirmed by the Baale of Osara, Wasiu Afolabi.

According to Afolabi, the Fulani herders in charge of the cows alerted him to the tragic incident at about 2 pm on Saturday. The matter has been reported to the Aregbe police division and the Chairman of Odeda Local Government, Dr. Afolashade Adeyemo.

The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, also confirmed the incident, stating that the Command is aware and has investigated the scene. A meeting has been scheduled with the Fulani herders to determine the next course of action and ensure the incident doesn’t affect community peace.
