A four days free Medical intervention outreach organized by the Senator representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone,Pastor Binos Dauda Yaroe with over five thousands peopl benefited from the gesture.
The medical outreach which took place at Ganye General Hospital attracted thousands of people from the nine LGAs constituting the senatorial,especially people from Jada,Ganye and To un go.
The medical team leader and consultant surgeon who packaged the program,Dr. Talemoh Wycliffe Dah confirmed that all the operations ranging from hernia,eye surgery,appendicitis were all successful and no any single casualty recorded.
According to him assorted drugs worth millions of naira were freely given to those suffering from heart related sicknesses like blood pressure (BP) and other aliments.
His personal Assistant,who formed part of the volunteer team,Mr Jama Medan further spoke on behalf of medical personnel said fifty medical personnel participated in the medical outreach pointing out that the exercise was a huge success.
He enumerated various illness attended to to include optic, dental as well as other major surgeries.
Principal Medical Officer, Doctor Nnebue Chinedu said the hospital which was the oldest in the area receives patients from neighboring local government areas and Cameroon.
The organiser,Senator Yaro eexplained that the free medical care was necessitated by the need for the intervention to be taken to other parts of the southern zone for more people to benefit.
He said due to inadequate equipment, resources including manpower were pulled from parts of the country for the success of the intervention.
The senator mentioned a case of a woman who had a persistent unexpected termination of pregnancy but was operated upon and now had a healthy baby girl, pointing out that this is enough justification for the free medical care.
He said it was easier and reasonable for him to provide adequate free health care than to provide individual empowerment for about five thousand people adding that this is actual empowerment.
He described the intervention as timely pointing out that the people usually access medical attention after harvest and festive periods.
Doctor Chinedu said some of the challenges been faced by the hospital include eratic electricity power supply, inadequate staff strength and equipment.
Some of those who had major surgery on them, Sixty year old Halilu Aliyu was operated on hernia he suffered for more than ten years was removed.
Hureira Yuguda could not hide her joy and was grateful to the Senator that relieved her of persistent stomach ache through surgery.
They expressed appreciation to Senator Binos for providing free medical care pointing out that it had brought alot of relief considering how much they would have spent to meet their health need.
Mr. Robinson Augustine said people of the area are delighted over the outreach considering the economic hardship been experienced by the people.
He explained that this is the kind of intervention they desire from their leaders where many will be able to assess free medical care and assured of their loyalty and support to the Senator.
