Over 7,000 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists surrender in one week, to go for rehabilitation

The Nigerian Army said on Wednesday that more than 7,000 Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists surrendered in one week.

Maj.- Gen. Christopher Musa, Theartre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri on Wednesday.

According to him, the feat is part of the significant successes recorded as a result of sustained operations against the ISWAP and Boko Haram terrorists.

“Thousands of insurgents comprising of combatants, non combatants, foot soldiers alongside their families, continued to lay down their arms in different parts of Borno”, he noted.

Musa said that thee repentants terrorists and their families would be profiled by the Army and others before they undergo rehabilitation processes.

He promised that the military and other security agencies will continue to devise and implement strategies to end terrorism.

In the last nine months, according to reports, no fewer than 30,000 insurgents and their families have surrendered to the Nigerian Army.

Many of them have been rehabilitated and several others still going through rehabilitation.
