Palliative: Adamawa LG gets 5,575 Bags Of Rice, shares 400 to Each Ward

No fewer than 5,575 bags of rice have been distributed to Shelleng Local Government Area of Adamawa State with 400 bags shared to each political Ward

It was a moment of joy and display of democracy dividends and transparency at the Shelleng LGC Secretariat during the week when the people of Shelleng benefitted from the bags of rice being distributed free-of-charge as part of palliative measures by the Shelleng Local Government Council (LGC) under the leadership of the Executive Chairman; Hon. Abubakar Musa Abba.

The distribution of bags of rice as palliative in Shelleng LGA was described as one of the most transparent manner as everyone had a sense of belonging due to its openness for all to see and witness.

Our Correspondent, who was at the distribution flag-off ceremony, gathered that the distribution process was satisfied by the Shelleng people as they wasted no time in appreciating the Council boss and his Councillors for seeing the need to be fair and just in the overall interest of all and sundry.

Speaking at the occasion, Member representing Shelleng Constituency in Adamawa House of Assembly (ADHA), Hon. Naphtali Bulus Kantamon, who appreciated the way and manner with which the distribution process was done, calling on the people of Shelleng to rally round Fintiri-led Administration and the LGC under Hon. Abubakar Musa Abba for more democracy dividends.

The lawmaker said that this was the first batch of palliative, expressing optimism that the palliative would reach the targetted beneficiaries.
Hon. Kantamon pointed out, “Everyone in Nigeria is affected by the removal of fuel subsidy which hike the pump price. Hence, no one should be left out in the sharing. The goal is to cushion the hardship that our people have been passing through”.

With the distribution of bags of maize underway, the lawmaker urged the committee to be up-and-doing the rice distribution as the outcome of the rice sharing determines if they would be entrusted with the distribution of maize.

Earlier in his welcome address, Executive Chairman of Shalleng LGC, Hon. Abubakar Musa Abba, commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his foresight in ensuring the effectiveness of the palliative measures, where he called on the committee members to distribute the bags of rice free-of-charge to the beneficiaries irrespective of their religion or tribe.

The Shelleng Council boss disclosed that the current hardship being faced by Nigerians is a test and it would come and go in no distant time, noting that God Almighty is aware of the situation in the country, and He would intervene for the betterment of the masses.

Hon. Abba pointed out that the Adamawa State Government in its magnitude heart, has been carrying Shelleng LGA along in all its activities, where he urged his people to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring the palliative reached the right people.

In his words, “Governor Fintiri specifically asked us to make sure everyone benefits irrespective of political parties. Whether you are in PDP or not, you will benefit because government is for everyone”.

While thanking Governor Fintiri for seeing the need to cushion the hardship of the masses in the state, the Council boss assured the Shelleng people of transparency in the distribution.
According to him, “If anyone diverts the bags of rice or sell them will attract the wrath of God upon his life. Widows, orphans, pensioners, people living with disabilities and the less privileged are the main beneficiaries. God will instantly punish those who sabotage the distribution for their selfishness”.

He revealed that total number of 10kg bags of rice received was 5,575 with 400 bags given to each Ward in the LGA as 50 bags were earmarked to the needy across communities in the LGA.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Mineral Resources, Hon. Ibrahim Haruna, said that all prominent personalities in Shelleng LGA were present at the flag-off ceremony to ensure the effectiveness of the distribution, calling on the committee members to work as a team for the betterment of the masses.

He stated, “I want to encourage those that are saddled with the responsibility of the distribution to what is expected of them because doing so is liken to service on to God Almighty”.

In his address, Amna Shelleng, HRH Alh. Abdullahi Isa Dasong, attributed the success of the distribution flag-off to the efforts made by the Executive Chairman of Shalleng, Member representing Shelleng Constituency and Commissioner for Mineral Resources.
Represented by Magajin Gari, Alh. Habibu Isa Dasong, the Royal Father who said the trio have been doing wonderfully well in their respective responsibilities due to the prayers of the people of Shelleng, noted that God Almighty has answered their prayers by blessing them with the three men.

The traditional leader called on his subjects to live their lives in accordance with the norms and values of the society, adding that living right would go a long way in reducing the hardship that the masses are currently going through.

Amna Shelleng commended the leadership skills of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and the Executive Chairman of Shalleng LGC for having an open and transparent leadership.

Earlier, the Secretary Shelleng LGC, Mal. Yusufu H. Sambo, pointed out that Shelleng is the only LGA in Adamawa State that shared its palliative in the most transparent manner as everybody was part and parcel of the distribution process.

Speaking to 3-Tier News Correspondent shortly after the flag-off ceremony, a cross section of beneficiaries thanked Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and appreciated Shelleng LGC Executive Chairman and other top personalities in the LGA for ensuring transparency in the distribution.
