Former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, has declared that the “train of the Pan-Nigerian Coalition” he is building alongside other leaders and stakeholders across political divides and regions has officially “left the station.”
Speaking during a courtesy visit by two delegations at his residence in Abuja, Atiku emphasized that the Nigerian Movement is a people-driven initiative aimed at reclaiming and rebuilding the country.
Atiku, a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, described the coalition as a unifying force powered by Nigerians from all walks of life, united by a shared desire to address the nation’s challenges.

The first delegation to meet with Atiku was from the PDP in Nasarawa State, led by Alhaji Jibirin Sabo Keana. The group expressed solidarity with Atiku’s vision and discussed strategies to strengthen the party’s presence in the state while aligning with the broader coalition’s objectives.

The second delegation comprised National Opinion Leaders, led by Hon. Yusuf Sheriff Banki, who commended Atiku’s commitment to fostering unity and driving democratic reforms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
During the meetings, Atiku briefed both groups on the progress of the Pan-Nigerian Coalition, which he described as a dynamic and evolving movement. He reiterated the coalition’s focus on addressing critical issues such as electoral reforms, economic recovery, and national unity, which he believes are essential to unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
“Indeed, the Coalition Train has left the station,” Atiku affirmed, signaling the movement’s unstoppable momentum.

The former vice president also addressed recent tensions within the PDP, particularly the rejection of the coalition by some party governors. He emphasized the need for broader consultations, noting that the movement transcends party lines and belongs to the Nigerian people.

Atiku’s announcement comes amid growing discussions about the 2027 elections, with the coalition gaining traction as a potential game-changer. The initiative, which includes notable figures like Labour Party’s Peter Obi and former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, has sparked both optimism and debate.
While some northern stakeholders have urged Atiku to step aside for a southern candidate, the former vice president remains steadfast in his commitment to the coalition’s inclusive approach.
As the Pan-Nigerian Coalition Train continues its journey, Atiku called on Nigerians to join the movement, emphasizing that its success depends on collective action. “This is a movement for all Nigerians who seek a better future. Together, we will rebuild our country,” he concluded.
