After a very much tussles by the Adamawa State Government to acquire the Paris Club money from the Federal Government. The 4.8 billion Naira was seen as a succour of saving many lives of the state civil servants by ameliorating their tense hardship.
Before the administration of Governor Muhammad Umaru Jibrilla Bindow, the Primary Health workers were owing the state government of 6 months salaries arrears, and Local government Education authorities (Primary schools )workers were equally having an outstanding salaries payment of Six months.
The irony of the lack of payment of this grass root civil servants seems to be a national Issues, verging up to the fact that recession is encroaching in all spheres of the Nation’s economy, making many states of the Federation unfit to settle their inherited salaries backlog.
The Arbitrate act to settle their salaries, pension, and gratuity entitlement brought an uproar in the political scene of the country, probably Adamawa state government are mostly attacked on the saga as politicians gracefully found the issues to be a political axe of settling their political scores, making them to delve into much arguments of interest.
After the much brouhaha the Adamawa State Governor, Senator Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla Bindow assiduously work around the clock to make sure that he will do what he said he will do -He will fulfill all his campaign promises in no distance time.
The accrued Salaries has allay, lessen and cautioned the effects of recession to so many of them. During the weekend most of the Banks in Jimeta metropolis have witnessed hundreds of customers happily queuing to withdraw money from their Automated Teller Machine (ATM).
One of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Musa Aliyu a Local Government civil servant from Ganye LGA said :
“Our Governor tried by releasing part of the money we are owing them, many people are blaming the Governor but to any body that knows the level of the country economy will appreciate the effort of this present government.
“Bindow inherited many months of unpaid salaries by the past administrations and the Federal allocation is not forth coming the way it use to come,he can’t do magic to pay us but I’m sure is working hard to even settle us the remaining salaries.”
Governor Bindow led administration has agreed to use hundred percent of the money from the Paris Club to pay all Local governments staff of their hanging salaries. The payment is gear toward reducing general hardship in the country most important Adamawa state through a constituted committee chair by Abba Jimeta and was saddled with the responsibility of making sure the disbursement will not take longer time than necessary
Many people in the state have seen wisdom in what the Governor and his cabinet did, considering the gesture is to bring live in the state’s fainting economy and revived the spirit of many of them that were having dashed hopes of settling them.
This singular gesture have credited the government well as they have implemented a policy that is having a direct link with the people of the grassroots who are in dare need basic needs
There is much assurances From the executive Governor to solve all salaries arrears of the state civil servants in no distance time .
there about 5,725 genuine workers that their names has not been in the e-payment plat form, they were not being paid since march 2016 while they are working and being paying over three years before that harsh screening begin, so how about them are the still ghost workers or they are on indefinite screening.
It is obvious the that the Adamawa state grasstoots civil servants most be commended for their patience, endurance and enthusiasm.
The state leadership of the NLC and the three unions most also be saluted for their courage and working round the clock within the shortest time and made the payment possible. Indeed Governor Bindow, most also be commended for his patience and doggedness towards disbursing the money which made the black knees politicians who were seeking cheap polarity a flaw. The Leadership of of NLC Adamawa state, should organize a rally in support of the governor and present him with a medal.
The President and commander in chief Mohammadu Buhari, deserve the commendation of the entire kiths and kins of Adamawa state for his prompt intervention to rescue the the states including Adamawa state. May God guide and protect them all for their individual and collective contributions towards their efforts.
Mutawallin Michika.
