The Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA)in Adamawa State is to enroll Journalists in entrepreneurship skills and viable trades to augment their take home pay as public servants.
The Head of the Agency,Hajiya Aishatu Bawa Bello gave the indication when she received the leadership of Nigeria Union of Journalists( NUJ)
led by its Chairman, Comrade Ishaka Donald Dedan who paid her a courtesy call in her office.
Aisha who said that a sizeable number of Adamawa citizens from 226 wards in the state have benefited from various skills acquisition ranging from cosmetology, Bakery, Tailoring, Saloon business and beads making noted that the agency will open its portal in 2023 for people to access for various training.
According to her, since
Adamawa State Governmet has been proactive in facilitating all it’s training programmes emphasized that value reorientation is the hallmark of the agency hence the need to empower Journalists considering their critical role in nurturing democracy, coupling with the increasing demands on their income.
The State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Adamawa State council had earlier poured encomiums on Hajiya Aishatu Bawa Bello for the massive empowerment and training programmes introduced by the agency and large number of citizens that benefited from the gesture.
