In a significant development within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Acting National Chairman Amb. Umar Iliya Damagum convened a meeting with the party’s state chairmen from all 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja. The gathering took place at the NEC Hall.
This meeting comes at a pivotal time for the PDP, as the party prepares for future elections and navigates internal dynamics. The party’s leadership and reorganization are expected to be key topics of discussion. Damagum’s appointment as acting national chairman was made in response to a high court order restraining Iyorchia Ayu from parading himself as the party’s national chairman.
The PDP Governors’ Forum has expressed support for Damagum’s leadership, urging the NWC to conduct credible congresses in states where party officers’ tenures have expired. However, factions within the party may have differing agendas.
