. Insist on Ayu’s resignation

Five Peoples Democratic Party governors, on Sunday, met behind closed doors in Enugu State.
The governors at the meeting included Samuel Ortom (Benue), Nyesom Wike, (Rivers), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, (Enugu), Seyi Makinde, (Oyo), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia).
A statement by the Enugu State Government said the governors held a “crucial meeting in the Enugu Government House to discuss matters of public interest”.
The meeting, which was said to have lasted for several hours, comes amid a crisis in the PDP over demands for the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu to resign.
Recall that the five governors also did not attend the inauguration of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, which held on September 28.
Wike’s allies have, however, insisted that they will not work for the party in the 2023 presidential election if Ayu does not resign as chairman.
Those insisting on Ayu’s resignation have hinged their position on the fact that the party chairman and presidential candidate cannot be from the same region.
