Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday announced Senator Ibrahim Dambaba (Sokoto South) as the new Senate Minority Whip.

The decision followed the defection of Senator Sahabi Yau from Zamfara State, who moved to the All Progressives Congress recently.

Yau defected to APC less than 24 hours after Bello Matawalle, Zamfara State Governor, formally joined the ruling party. He described the APC as a “formidable and peaceful party”.

“Being a representative of my people and having consulted widely with them, I have decided to defect from the crisis-ridden party to a more formidable and peaceful party,” Yau said in his notice to the Senate.
