The All Progressives Congress (APC) is basking in a major political victory today as Mr. Aaron Aminu Yaduma, a prominent former stalwart of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), officially defected to the APC during a spirited rally on June 12, 2025, at Muna Hotel in Yola.
The high-profile switch, punctuated by an impassioned speech, has ignited widespread buzz and signaled a potential realignment of political forces in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.


Yaduma who gave a press statement to media men after Addressing an enthusiastic crowd of party leaders, supporters, and constituents, Yaduma framed his defection as a purposeful move to join “the party of purpose, action, and Nigeria’s future.”
The rally, meticulously organized by APC leadership, erupted with chants of unity and renewed hope, celebrating Yaduma’s return to the progressive fold. In his address, he declared:
After thoughtful reflection, wide consultations with constituents, and a deep analysis of our nation’s political and economic trajectory, I boldly declare my decampment from the PDP to the APC—the party that holds the key to Nigeria’s future
“I greet you all in the spirit of unity, progress, and renewed hope! Today, I stand before you not just as a politician, but as a servant of the people who has listened, reflected, and chosen the path of progress.
“After thoughtful reflection, wide consultations with constituents, and a deep analysis of our nation’s political and economic trajectory, I boldly declare my decampment from the PDP to the APC—the party that holds the key to Nigeria’s future.”
Yaduma attributed his decision to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s transformative agenda, citing economic milestones such as the naira’s stabilization, a jump in foreign reserves from $4 billion in 2023 to over $37 billion, and $30 billion in foreign direct investments.
He hailed the redirection of funds from the N3.6 trillion annual fuel subsidy—previously eroded by corruption and smuggling—into education, healthcare, and infrastructure, spotlighting the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND)’s support for over 300,000 students.

Infrastructure triumphs like the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, alongside increased state revenue allocations that have cleared civil servant salary arrears, were also praised. He underscored the “Nigeria First” policy for food sovereignty and security gains through enhanced military funding.
“Since President Tinubu assumed office, Nigeria has begun a new chapter,” Yaduma asserted, lauding the APC’s inclusive governance and youth empowerment.
“With his bold, focused, and impactful agenda—from fiscal reforms to infrastructural drives—he is not merely managing Nigeria; he is reforming and transforming it.
“With the transformation agenda of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, as a patriotic Nigerian and a servant of the people, I cannot in good conscience stand apart from a movement that is clearly setting the nation on a path of growth and national renewal. I am aligning with the APC not out of personal ambition, but out of patriotic conviction. I am convinced that our collective future lies in supporting a government that is unafraid to take the difficult decisions necessary to ensure long-term national development.”
He pledged loyalty to the APC leadership and vowed to mobilize support for a dominant 2027 electoral win, from wards to the presidency, rallying, “Together, we will return President Tinubu’s legacy with resounding victory for APC in 2027!”
