The leadership and members of over 200 registered Support Groups in Adamawa State, under the chairmanship of Mr. Christopher Tonmageino, have come out to strongly deny claims made by Abubakar H. Kapo that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has suspended their activities.
The claim, which was published on January 10, 2025, alleged that the suspension was due to the groups’ open support for former Vice President Alh. Atiku Abubakar. However, the Support Groups have described this claim as a “tissue of lies” aimed at creating bad blood and disaffection between the Governor and the former Vice President, as well as the PDP family in Adamawa State.
The PDP Support Groups in Adamawa State are intact and continue to carry out their lawful activities, with a recent example being a solidarity rally held on January 1, 2025, in support of the state government’s creation of seven chiefdoms and 83 districts. The relationship between Governor Fintiri and former Vice President Abubakar is described as that of a father and son, making it unlikely that the Governor would suspend a legitimate group for supporting one of the fathers of the PDP in Nigeria.

The assertion by Abubakar that the deepening internal divisions in the party particularly after the recent creation of new Emirates in the Central region reflects the governor’s efforts to manage descent and ensure his supremacy in the party is not only false and miscellaneous but petty and self-serving. We understand where the writer is coming from, he is one of the opponents of freedom and self-determination who in his narrow thinking believe that a particular set of people are born to be overloads for eternity
The leadership of the PDP Support Groups has advised Abubakar H. Kapo to be more mindful of his words and to stop confusing the public. Unless he is referring to the Saire movement, which has since declared itself no longer a PDP Support Group, he should be clear and accurate in his statements.

The records show that Governor Fintiri has not suspended the activities of the Adamawa PDP Support Groups, and the groups will continue to operate lawfully in the state.
