PEF com’tee inspects ongoing projects in readiness to upgrade FMC Yola to a teaching hospital

A committee led by the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF), Ahmed Bobbo has disclosed that the superlative performance of the Chief Medical Director of Federal Medical Center (FMC) Yola, professor Awwal Mohammed was the major driving force behind his organization’s quest to ensure the hospital’s upgrade to a teaching hospital.

Bobbo who made the statement during the inspection tour of ongoing projects in the hospital by members of the governing board and management of PEF said the board and management are extremely happy with the performance of the CMD.

“The medical director has been indefatigably making the hospital a center of excellence.

” The reports of the CMD’s feat in separating Siamese twins really gladdens our hearts and that is why we are pushing for the upgrade of the hospital. It is a confirmation of what we are telling the people,” he said.

He noted that the board and management of PEF deem it right after awarding the contracts for the upgrade of the hospital to come from time to time to inspect the level of progress made so far.

While expressing satisfaction with the progress of work done, Bobbo noted that some of the projects have reached advanced stage of completion while some are due for commissioning, noting that in few months to come, some of the projects will be ripe for use.

While responding, the CMD, professor Awwal Mohammed thanked the board and management of PEF for the magnificent projects they are instituting in the hospital noting that such will enhance the delivery of the hospital and its march towards becoming a teaching hospital.

He noted that the hospital has been doing well in the area of training and derives its patients from Taraba, Borno, Gombe States and even from Cameroon republic.

He noted that with the green light Modibbo Adama University got to start medicine, FMC is seriously marching to become a teaching hospital.

The CMD commended the quality of work being executed even as he noted that the pace of work is slow although he said some of the reasons behind the slow pace of work are germane.

He expressed optimism that some of the projects will be commissioned before the end of the year.

Some of the projects currently under construction include; water, power supply with large solar panels, road networks and administrative building.
