Peter Obi Visits Mokwa, Donates N20m, Trailer of Food Items to Victims

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has visited the flood-ravaged Mokwa Local Government Area in Niger State, donating N20 million and a trailer load of grains to the victims.

The devastating flood claimed 153 lives, destroyed homes, and displaced thousands of residents.

During his visit, Obi expressed sympathy to the bereaved families and prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed victims. He called for international and national support to alleviate the suffering of the victims, emphasizing the need for collective action in times of disaster.

The Labour Party presidential candidate’s donation was well-received by the Niger State government, with Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba commending Obi’s kindness and support. Garba noted that Obi has consistently supported victims of natural disasters, demonstrating his commitment to humanity.

The flood in Mokwa LGA has caused significant devastation, with many residents still struggling to cope with the aftermath. Obi’s donation is a timely relief to the victims, and his visit has brought hope to the affected communities.

In a related development, the wife of the Niger State governor, Fatima Umaru Bago, had earlier visited the flood victims and donated N50 million to support the affected communities. The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NMA) had warned of possible flash floods in 15 states, including Niger State, prior to the disaster.
